The Conference

What is the conference "The New Urban Economic Model: The Transformation of Fairfax County" all about?

The conference will examine what happens—or what should happen—when a suburban community evolves into an urban center. How do communities such as Fairfax County navigate such a transformation while maintaining a position as a desirable location for business—with a strong economy and a higher quality of life? Speakers and panelists will examine the transformation of suburban communities and explore how forward-thinking communities are rising to the challenges and opportunities created by urbanization. Senior corporate executives will provide an in-depth understanding of the critical factors their companies consider when expanding or relocating in an urbanizing community.

What is the appropriate attire for conference?

Business attire is the appropriate attire for the conference.

Program

What are the elements of the conference?

The conference features a number of panel discussions, a keynote luncheon and networking opportunities.

Can I sit with my party at the luncheon?

Yes, if you arrive together. However, attendees are seated randomly.

Registration

How much is the registration fee?

Registration is $180.00.

Are there any incentives for group registration?

Yes. The group registration fee (based on 10 people or more) must be made at the same time with the same form of payment. Please contact Connie Royal for details.

How can I register?

Click on the "Register" link in the navigational menu at the top of the page, and you will be taken to our secure CVent registration site.

Does my registration fee include hotel accommodations?

No. Your registration fee includes continental breakfast, luncheon and participation in the conference sessions. For hotel information, see the "Location/Hotel/Travel" section of this FAQ.

Are meals included in the registration package?

Yes. A continental breakfast will be served and the keynote luncheon is open to all conference registrants.

What if I have to cancel?

The conference will refund your registration fee (minus the $90 processing fee) if the cancellation is made online by May 15, 2009. After May 15, there will be no refunds. Please have your confirmation number available.

If I have already registered but cannot attend, can I send someone else in my place?

Yes. Name changes are acceptable if the change is made online by the original registrant. Remember to have your confirmation number available.

Speakers

I’m interested in being a speaker at the conference. Have speakers been selected, yet?

Speakers are still being accepted for review. However, most speaking positions are filled. Please send your request, along with your press kit to FCEDA, Attention Special Events, 8300 Boone Boulevard, Suite 450, Vienna, Virginia 22182. NOTE: Due to overwhelming requests, we are only able to contact those selected.
